Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles #3.5)

Goodreads Summary
In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.

Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death. This extraordinary book includes full-color art and an excerpt from Winter, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series.

My Thoughts
I really enjoyed this. It gave us a glimpse into the crazy, evil mind of Queen Levana. She truly is a psychopath and has absolutely no idea. Meanwhile we meet Winter's parents and see the steps Levana went through to make Everet her own which were cunning and heartbreaking. I have no sympathy for Levana. She is the worst kind of person, but there were times where I understood what made her into the disastrous woman she would become.

I don't think that it is required to read Fairest, but if you enjoy this series than I think you should...after you read Cinder, Scarlett, and Cress. Yes it is important that you read those first. Although it does not reveal a lot about the three girls from the other books, it does give away spoilers if you have not read them yet. Plus it's important to read about the good people before you feel sorry for the bad ones.

This book has me pretty excited for Winter, but also a little worried that I might need to do a re-read of the first three books.
